What Kinds of Things Would I do as a Caregiver?
This depends on your skills, availability, and the sort of position that works for you. Some of our caregivers are primarily companions for our clients. This means spending time with them and performing light tasks when needed. Other clients need extra support, such as caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or another health condition.
Every client care plan is tailored to their own individual needs. We always make sure that you are well matched with a client.
Our most important job, no matter who our client is, is to be there for them. The role of the caregiver is an important one. Clients depend on us to help them live a more enriched and fulfilling life. This is why we’re proud to call ourselves Comfort Keepers®.
How Do I Get Information About a Client?
Every client has a customized plan of care. This will be accessible to you through a secure portal, so you can check it your convenience. We’ll ask you to report back on certain items at the end of your visit, so we can better support you and provide the best care to the clients. Our caregivers and care coordinators work as a team to deliver the best care possible.
Can I Work Near my Home?
We do our very best to minimize travel for our caregivers. You can set what areas you are willing to travel for work.
Do I Need Any Special Training?
As a caregiver or home health aide, the most important skill you’ll need is compassion. Comfort Keepers hires caring people and will train them with the skills that they need to perform their jobs. We will help you learn the skills that you need to succeed.
If you want to further your career with us, we offer many training courses and certification options.
Do I Need to Provide Transportation?
Yes, you need a valid driver’s license to be a caregiver. Part of your duties might include driving your client to doctor appointments, the grocery store, or shopping trips. You may also need to run errands for them. Having a reliable vehicle is a critical part of being a caregiver.
Will I Get Compensated for Mileage?
Yes, mileage reimbursement for transporting your client is one of the benefits we offer.
Am I Covered if There Is an Accident on the Job?
Absolutely. All of our caregivers are covered by workers compensation insurance.
Can I Choose My Own Clients?
We’ll have a great system to match you with clients who fit your availability, skill set, and requirements. If at any point, you’d like to change your assignment just let us know and we’ll work on it right away.
I’m in School, Can I Schedule Around My Classes?
Many of our caregivers are current students or recent graduates. As a Comfort Keeper, you are able set the hours you are available to work. When your classes change, let us know and we’ll update your availability. Being a caregiver is a great way to earn money and gain experience at school.
Can I Get a Promotion?
Comfort Keepers offers annual reviews. We strongly believe in rewarding excellence and promote from within whenever possible.
How Do Taxes Work?
With Comfort Keepers, you are an employee, not an independent contractor. This means we take care of all taxes, just like other employers.
How Much Will I Get Paid?
We pride ourselves on treating our caregivers well. The amount you make will depend on your position, experience, and other factors.
Is There a Bonus If I Refer a Friend to Comfort Keepers?
Yes! If you refer a friend or family member to work with us, you get a special bonus as a thank you for helping us grow our team. Many of our caregivers are referred by word of mouth.
Can I Get Health Insurance?
Full-time Comfort Keepers are eligible for comprehensive health coverage. Part-time caregivers do not get personal insurance, but they do enjoy full Workers Comp protection*.
Do You Offer a Pension or 401k?
We offer a 401k retirement plan for all full-time employees.
